Presence (2024)
What is there to say about Presence that hasn’t already been said?
It’s boring, it’s lost the plot, it was a waste of time. I don’t recommend it and completely understand now what all the low ratings were about.
Presence stars Lucy Liu. I love Lucy, (please forgive my review). This, however, was a waste of her time as much as it was mine. She stars as a mother with some nefarious situation going on. Her marriage is in peril, and they decide to buy a house.
As soon as they move in paranormal or abnormal things start occurring that lead us all to wonder…Is there a presence in the house?
My husband asks me…
“Was this free?”
“How much did we pay for this?”
I had only sad answers…
“No.”
“It costs $5.99, that’s good right?”
It was my plan to watch a movie every Tuesday night and come back here on Wednesday and tell you about it. This was my first movie choice, and I chose it poorly.
Don’t make the same mistake as me.

The Instrumentalist
Harriet Constable
She sees music in rays of color. Sees her future as a prominent violinist. Sees her teacher as a means to get from where she is to where she is destined to be.
Anna Maria is just one of the many orphans being raised in Ospedale della Pietà. It is 1704 in Venice and the only thing keeping her from being who she wants to be is being offered to her for a price. A price she is too young to fully understand. A price far more valuable than she can afford.
I liked this book ok. I would’ve liked for it to make a less traditional approach to the storyline. It ended up being exactly what I expected it to be and not much more. There really wasn’t anything surprising and I didn’t have any big epiphanies or come to any new conclusions.
It was just ok.
I’m sorry this title didn’t work for me. I will check out what Constable writes next.

Nonna Maria and the Case of the Lost Treasure by Lorenzo Carcaterra
Book Summary.
NONNA MARIA AND THE CASE OF THE LOST TREASURE
Lorenzo Carcaterra
All I did was read a Lorenzo Carcaterra novel to feel like I’ve traveled the world.
We’re armchair traveling and visiting the beautiful island of Ischia, Italy with Nonna in NONNA MARIA AND THE CASE OF THE LOST TREASURE. It has been requested that she help a long-time friend and peer, Captain Moreno, on a case. This case is unlike anything Nonna or The Captain have faced before. They’ll need every ounce of bravery and every pound of knowledge to solve the case.
Luckily, it seems they have enough of both.
Nonna must solve the case of the lost treasure, dispel a dose of old Italian wisdom, and keep everyone around her safe. Will she do it or will this case be the one that ends Nonna’s solving streak?
Only Lorenzo Carcaterra and NONNA MARIA will tell.
When I want to travel sometimes, I read a book. When I want to travel to Italy specifically, get a dose of grandmotherly advice, catch up with the locals, and enjoy a triple espresso and a bite of tiramisu, I reach for the latest book in the NONNA MARIA series.
Recently it was NONNA MARIA AND THE CASE OF THE LOST TREASURE and just like last time I had a fantastic reading experience. This time Nonna is on the case again. This time at the request of Captain Moreno, a long-time friend and peer.
I love Nonna and The Captain is a close second. They are what makes the series and I always enjoy spending time with them.
