    The Review.

THE HEIRESS Rachel Hawkins THE HEIRESS and I got off to a rocky start. It took me a few sittings before I could get into the book and into the story. It felt like a lot of effort for what ultimately was the novel. This is the fourth book I’ve read by Hawkins and my ratings and level of enjoyment have been all over the map. But I am a fan. I appreciate her focus on women’s lives and how varied they can be. As different as Hawkins’ books have been I’m rarely surprised by the direction her novels take and I was a little bored with this one. I gave THE HEIRESS three stars and being a completionist I am glad I read it. I hope for more out of the next one. Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced copy! THE HEIRESS…⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Book Review: #CrimeTime by Jeneva Rose and Drew Pyne

#CrimeTime by Jeneva Rose and Drew Pyne

    Synopsis.

#CRIME TIME Jeneva Rose and Drew Pyne Every time I pick up a Jeneva Rose novel, I remember that I enjoy her writing. What CRIME TIME did for me as a reader is realize that I am now a fan. #CrimeTime stars Nadia and Chase, half-siblings. They have a dad in common and not much else. They’re at home hanging out, Nadia working on her writing, and Chase, working on his social media and keeping his followers called, ‘THE CHASERS’ up to date. They hear a loud noise upstairs and decide to investigate. Outside their front door, they see two men carrying a suspicious number of suitcases quickly down the stairs. Even more curious now they go upstairs and what they find begins the story of CRIME TIME.

    The Review.

I spent the afternoon with Rose and Pyne listening to #CRIMETIME and I had the best time. #CRIMETIME is an audio exclusive and stars a full cast. There are also accompanying background noises which make this an immersive experience. The narrators did a fantastic job and their performances added to my enjoyment of the audiobook. Pyne seems to bring out Rose’s more playful and youthful side. We’ve seen her casual dark humor before in THE PERFECT MARRIAGE and more recently in YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE COME HERE but it is on full display here in CRIME TIME. I appreciate how Rose takes risks and seems to be having fun doing it. #CRIMETIME made me smile, made me laugh, and forget any pressing responsibilities I had if only for an afternoon. #CRIMETIME is just four hours long, making it the perfect length for a short flight or a quick road trip. #CRIMETIME is out now and available where audiobooks are sold. Thanks to Simon and Schuster Audio and Libro.fm for the advanced copies. This was a pleasure. #CRIMETIME…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    The Review.

This was so much fun. CHRISTMAS PRESENTS is a novella, only 224 pages. Although it was short, Unger had plenty of time to develop a good story with memorable characters and an intriguing plot. I read it as the weather was cooling and the universe was whispering at Fall. I recommend you read it with a cozy drink, under a warm blanket as snow falls outside. Thanks to Netgalley, Penzler Publishers, and Mysterious Press for the advanced copy! CHRISTMAS PRESENTS…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ CHRISTMAS PRESENTS is in stores now!
