    The Instrumentalist by Harriet Constable

    Book Summary.

The Instrumentalist Harriet Constable She sees music in rays of color. Sees her future as a prominent violinist. Sees her teacher as a means to get from where she is to where she is destined to be. Anna Maria is just one of the many orphans being raised in Ospedale della Pietà. It is 1704 in Venice and the only thing keeping her from being who she wants to be is being offered to her for a price. A price she is too young to fully understand. A price far more valuable than she can afford.

    The Review.

I liked this book ok. I would’ve liked for it to make a less traditional approach to the storyline. It ended up being exactly what I expected it to be and not much more. There really wasn’t anything surprising and I didn’t have any big epiphanies or come to any new conclusions. It was just ok. I’m sorry this title didn’t work for me. I will check out what Constable writes next. Thanks to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for the advanced copy! THE INSTRUMENTALIST…⭐️⭐️⭐️

    The Review.

SERIAL KILLER SUPPORT GROUP Saratoga Schaefer In SERIAL KILLER SUPPORT GROUP we are following Cyra. Cyra maneuvers her way into a serial killer support group. She’s looking for a serial murderer and thinks this group is her key to finding out who killed her sister. Hmmmm, I tried to write more in that short synopsis but I promise that’s what this book is about. Giving away much more would be spoilery and with the little amount of twists in this book I’m trying to save every surprise I can for you. SERIAL KILLER SUPPORT GROUP is very straightforward and there aren’t many twists and turns. I recommend this title to beginner thriller readers still pumped about the idea of a serial killer. Anyone who watches true crime documentaries, listens to true crime podcasts or tries to catch the evening news will know the factoids being dropped in the book. Unfortunately, I think this book suffers from not knowing its audience and not treating its readers smart enough. I gave SERIAL KILLER SUPPORT GROUP three stars. Thanks to Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for the advanced copies! SERIAL KILLER SUPPORT GROUP…⭐⭐⭐

    Book Summary.

THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS Warona Jay Make sure you check out THE LOUNGE. Now on the undertheradarbooks.com. This is a place to relax, unwind, rev-up, listen and enjoy. Podcasts, Playlists and more. Please check out The Lounge. And tell me what you think. I’d love to hear how I can make the space better and more accessible to my readers. Kassidi THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS is about a writer. Her name is Relebogile Naledi Mpho Moruakgomo. Called Eddie by those who know her.  Her play is not getting the reception from agencies she’s been shopping that she’d hoped for. She feels it starts with her name. She feels it tells too much about her before her writing can tell its story. She would like for her play to stand on its own. She feels it would get a better reception. Then comes Hugo. Hugo Lawrence Smith to be exact. The guy at the café. He’s not only handsome and charming and flirting with her. He seems to understand her dilemma and together they come up with a plan. Use his name and her writing. Resubmit the play in his name…what could go wrong? All that could go wrong does, and before we know it Eddie and Hugo are in an even bigger crisis.

    The Review.

THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS was ok. I appreciated what it had to say, and I liked the writing. One of its missteps might have been trying to fit everything in this one book. There are more than a handful of concepts here. Using a pseudonym to submit work is just one of them. There are also four romances with two love triangles and a mystery, and maybe even a discussion on who gets to tell a story. Outside of very solid concepts like race inequality, gender bias, homophobia, and sexism, there are also discussions about being biracial, bisexual, and an immigrant. And somewhere in there is a very basic question: Who gets to tell a story? Thanks to Netgalley and Atria Books | Washington Square Press for the advanced copy! THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS…⭐⭐⭐
