Given the experience I have with Jenny Bayliss, you would think I have learned my lesson. But here we are again, with a mediocre rating and a resolution the read the synopsis better next time.
In A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER we are following three sisters: Maggie, Simone, and Star. They share a father, and each has their own mother. They lived separate lives except for the short period of time they would spend with their father. Their father has just passed, and they are coming together to bury him and settle his estate, as it were.
A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER is a bittersweet concoction of grief, complicated familial relationships, and toxic situations set during the holiday season.
A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER
Jenny Bayliss
I feel A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER is connection dependent and these dynamics didn’t work for me. Next time, I will search the synopsis for clues as to what the plot centers around and what the characters are going through, not just which season it’s released in.
A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER is entirely too depressing. I don’t want a depression inducing reading experience during the holiday season. I want light situations and happy and cheerful characters that are coming together to celebrate the season.
A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER features a shotgun full of heavy topics. If one of them resonates with you then this book might be worth exploring.
I gave A DECEMBER TO REMEMBER three stars and it felt like a middle-of-the-road reading experience.
