I must be careful what I say. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, and you read that vague synopsis. It’s going to be difficult to do.
Let’s start with our MC, William. William has been having an affair and the person he’s been having the affair with has called it off. William heads home from being dumped only to be surprised by his daughter Avery’s home early from school.
On that same evening, Avery’s family contact the police to say she is missing.
As EVERYONE HERE IS LYING unfolds, we learn everything that happened that fateful day, everything that led up to it, and everything that happened after.
This is not my first Shari Lapena, and the title warned me, so I was ready for anything in EVERYONE HERE IS LYING. I got what I expected and more and I think you’ll enjoy this one as much as I did. I’m loving all of these neighborhood thrillers, and this is one of my favorites!
EVERYONE HERE IS LYING is expertly narrated by January LaVoy. Because of this I sometimes felt like I was trapped in a James Patterson WOMENS MURDER CLUB novel. Outside of that minor aspect of the audiobook experience I enjoyed the book and my time reading it.
William is a slippery character living in a bed of eels. It is difficult to discern the good amongst the bad and I had trouble rooting for any character. By the end of the book, I was glad to be done with them.
