Before I get to this review, I wanted to make an announcement that I hope will be a fun one. You may not have noticed but you have entered a portal to the next three months. We’re going to skip a few months and talk about books releasing this fall.
If you feel like you’re missing something I recommend you subscribe to my Substack…linked below. That is where a lot of the July and August reviews will be posted. I’d love to have you over there.
TELL ME EVERYTHING
Elizabeth Strout
I will never divulge the secret of who my favorite of the two is. I will tell you I thought I had to choose between Olive and Lucy. And the coolest epiphany I had is that I don’t have to choose.
Thanks to Elizabeth Strout I have both.
In TELL ME EVERYTHING two worlds from the same universe collide. Olive Kitteridge has a story to tell and she’d like to tell it to Lucy Barton.
Lucy is an author and so it only makes sense that she hears Olive’s story. Maybe she can make something out of it for her books or maybe it’ll just feel good to tell her story. Only Olive knows.
By the time the novel ends, we learn more about Bob Burgess, Olive, and Lucy. Not to mention many others within Olive’s world.
This is your invitation to Strout’s universe.
If Strout has a literary superpower it would be nomenclature. Not only does she so accurately give words and names to the subtle differences between people that make them unique, but she also illuminates the things that make us similar.
I do not know what I like the most about Elizabeth Strout’s books. Her characters are unbelievable the story is life-affirming and the writing is the show’s star. I have appreciated every reading experience I’ve had with Strout and TELL ME EVERYTHING was no different.
Thanks to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group – Random House | Random House for the advanced copy! It was a pleasure!
